Duplex Steel Valves

Benefits of Duplex Steel Valves

The valve is a mechanism or natural entity that guides, directs or regulates the flow of liquid by opening, closing or partially obstructing the different passages. Duplex Steel Valves are steel valves that comprise in the microstructure both the ferrite phase and the austenite phase. Duplex steels combine the austenitic and ferritic alloy family characteristics to provide advantages from each with less downsides, mostly at a lower price than other steel alloys.

While Duplex Steel Valves constitute only a small percentage of the global stainless steel valve market relative to conventional austenitic stainless steel valves and ferritic stainless steel valves, Duplex Steel Valves have a number of benefits.

• Improved Strength

The power of most duplex stainless-steel grades is twice that of the austenitic and ferritic grades of stainless steel.

• High Corrosion Resistance

Duplex stainless-steel valves give equal (or better) corrosion resistance to traditional austenitic grades depending on the grade in question. High resistance to both crevice corrosion and chloride pitting is demonstrated in alloys with increased molybdenum, chromium, and nitrogen steels.

• High Ductility and Durability

Under strain, Duplex stainless-steel valves are much more formable than ferrite grades and have greater longevity. While they have lower values than austenitic steels, the duplex steel valves’ unique structure and characteristics generally outweigh any concerns.

• Cost-Effectiveness

Although having lower molybdenum and nickel levels, duplex steel valves have all of the above benefits. This implies that it is a lower-cost option than many stainless steel standard austenitic grades. The price of duplex steel valves is also less unpredictable than most other grades of steel, making it easier to estimate costs, both upfront and at the stage of lifetime.

• Better Mechanical Properties

The overall mechanical properties of duplex stainless steel are higher, the strength and strength of fatigue are greater, and the yield strength of form 18-8 austenitic stainless steel is two times greater.

• Good Corrosion Resistance

Duplex stainless steel valve has strong resistance to corrosion, fatigue and wear and corrosion, and certain conditions have also been used for the processing of raw materials for pumps, valves and other machinery.

• Good Weldability

The weldability of duplex stainless steel is excellent and there is a slight pattern of hot cracking. Without heat treatment after welding, there is typically no need to preheat before welding, and it can be welded to dissimilar steels, such as austenitic stainless steel type 18-8 or carbon steel.

• High Thermal Conductivity

Duplex stainless steel has high thermal conductivity and a low coefficient of linear expansion compared with austenitic stainless steel. It is ideal for composite plate lining and manufacturing. It is also fitting to use it as the heart of the heat exchanger.
